Anton Cataldo

This is our buddy Anton Cataldo – he has his studio in the same building as GenEric HQ. He is a painter primarily, although some may describe him as a sculptor as he builds other physical elements into the overall piece – painting on school desk lids and ostrich eggs and the like. His paintings have a definite melancholia to them, but the thing that I like best is the way that that melancholy mingles with the naivity of both the subject matter and the execution. His paintings capture the cusp between the wide-eyed timelessness of childhood and the existential anxiety of adulthood.

Oil on Ostrich Egg, with soy beans and green split peas and enamel paint. I covet these. Buy t-shirts from the store so I can afford to buy them! Better pics below.
